Sales slump, but diesels rise again

New car registrations have been left out in the cold this winter. Numbers for 2006 have fallen by 3.2 per cent to 2,055,739 units for the year to October.

But this was countered slightly as diesel registrations rose by 5.4 per cent to 64,128 last month. Derv sales accounted for 41.7 per cent of the total; further proof that fuel efficiency is high on motorists' priorities.
