Slot car kit's a pitstop hit

16th November 2006

You can pit like the pros with the latest slot car racing kit from Ninco. The Spanish maker has not only added a digital track, which means you can overtake by switching lanes, but has also introduced pitstop strategy into the mix, by forcing drivers to refuel. If you don’t, the cars go slower as the ‘fuel’ runs out until it’s topped up in the pitlane.

An N-Digital Master set, which packs 12 metres of track on to
an 8x4ft board, costs £275, and includes kit to run three cars at a time.
Standard packages have not been ignored, as new racers and a Master track have been added. The latter costs £150, comes in a tough storage case and winds nearly 13 metres of track on to a standard 8x4ft board. This package doesn’t include any models, but there are plenty to choose from, including a finely detailed Renault Mégane and a Birel kart. Each car costs around £27.
