Volkswagen Tiguan

We've charted the progress of VW's compact off-roader ever since the stunning Concept A, a rakish SUV coupé, debuted at this year's Geneva Motor Show.

The firm's engineers have been working hard in the US to develop the new model - our spies spotted this prototype with a fake badge on the nose - in a bid to boost sales in the American market. The Golf, called the Rabbit in the States, has struggled to make an impact, but the Tiguan is expected to boast a much broader appeal.
