Drink-drive shake-up

New proposals from the Euro­pean Commission could see drink-drive limits slashed.

MEPs are backing the European Trans­port Safety Council, which says Britain should lower its limit from 80mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood to 20mg for youngsters and 50mg for other drivers - equivalent to one pint of lager. This would bring the UK in line with other countries.
