Avenger hits the road

Dodge revealed its new family car with the fam­ous name in near-production form at the Paris Motor Show in the autumn - but these pictures show the final model testing undisguised for the first time.

The basic shape of the show car remains virtually unchanged, including the bulging rear wheelarches. The front end also keeps its pure American styling.

Based on the same platform as Chrysler's Sebring, the Ford Mondeo rival will go on sale here by late summer. Prices have yet to be revealed, but the Dodge is likely to be great value.
