Troubled TVR's wall of silence

The crisis at sports car maker TVR appears to be deepening

Following October's closure of the Blackpool plant and news of plans to move the operation to Europe, the manufacturing division has now called in the receiver.

But trying to find out what that means for the firm is tricky. As we went to press, a voicemail message at the factory switchboard still claimed that everyone was on their Christmas holidays and due to be back on 2 January. But the site is locked up and a security guard said TVR staff aren't allowed in any more!

Receiver PKF would only reveal that it had been appointed by the director of the manufacturing arm, which is now called Blackpool Automotive. But it wouldn't say who that person is!

Meanwhile, a statement on the TVR website read: "Normal business continues for the company and its network of authorised dealers and service centres throughout the UK and abroad. Current warranties and the supply of parts remain unaffected."
