VWs are ready to go the extra mile

Volkswagen has improved the economy of its cars without even touching their mechanicals

A new measuring system has changed mpg and CO2 figures for the better. Now the Golf 1.6 FSI averages 42.2mpg - up from 40.4mpg - while the Polo 1.4 TDI 70 achieves 62.8mpg instead of 60.1mpg. A spokesman said the new calculation brings the cars into line with their competitors.
