The firm wants to give its small hatchback a fresher image when the replacement model is launched next spring.
However, despite the design changes, the Kalos replacement won't benefit from a new platform
Set to be unveiled at either the Frankfurt Motor Show this September or the 2008 Geneva Motor Show, the new supermini will get a thorough overhaul. The styling is tipped to be inspired by the Ultra WTCC concept, which was first revealed at last year's Paris Motor Show.
Major changes will be made inside, too, where better quality materials will be used throughout the cabin and integrated stereo systems will replace the slide-in aftermarket units found in the current car.
However, despite the design changes, the Kalos replacement won't benefit from a new platform. Under the skin, everything from the engines to the suspension will remain largely unchanged - which could leave the new Chevrolet lagging behind the competition before it's even revealed.
