Sales of used off-roaders and MPVs are on the rise, despite concerns about the environment and increased taxation. A study by statistics expert Experian revealed that the end of 2006 saw a dramatic jump in sales.
Researchers said there was a 20 per cent increase in MPV purchases and 10 per cent for off-roaders. A spokesman said: "Prices of larger cars tend to fall quickly, making them affordable second-hand buys. Buyers appear to be focusing on lower initial outlay rather than long-term costs or environmental effects."
