Too many drivers are caught cold

Frozen screens and other cold-weather catastrophes are costing businesses nearly £40m

Time spent de-icing glass is making people late for work, adding up to hundreds of hours of lost time.

Churchill Car Insurance says a third of drivers are delayed with frozen wipers, while 25 per cent of cars won't start. The results are especially surprising considering 70 per cent of those asked said they'd bought de-icer and anti-freeze. "Motorists should be better prepared for winter," said a spokesman.
