WRC car spied on test; hybrid from B5 on way

As a result, a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre petrol powerplant will also be developed - likely to be a high-revving, slightly detuned version of the same 300bhp-plus engine that will power Subaru's WRC entry from 2009. Crucially, this model is set to retain the trademark 4WD layout. Also in the pipeline is a production variant of the hybrid turbocharged boxer drivetrain from the B5 concept. A Subaru first, it will be co-developed with Toyota and is set to arrive in 2009 in an all-new Legacy. A face­lifted version of the current car has recently been launched.
