Big idea

It's not unusual to find up to 12 cup-holders for passengers in modern people carriers, including models such as the Kia Sedona and Mazda MPV

The feature was created by Chrysler stylist Dave Spykerman. He simply decided to add a little circular well to the centre console of an interior he was designing, which could hold a drinks can upright.

The American manufacturer's marketing staff loved the idea, and insisted that it was incorporated into the first Voyager, which was launched in 1983.
