Nissan is adding more kit to the Micra with three accessory packs

The Styling option features an alloy gearknob and ivory or aluminium trim. Choose the Family version, and there's a rear DVD player and sun blinds. Finally, the Technology pack has Thatcham-approved security and rear parking sensors. Prices for the kit range from £145 to £451.

One of the country's top schools is calling for driver training to be part of the National Curriculum.

Harrow School in Middlesex is using a new scheme called the A2om Academy to educate its sixth-form pupils in road safety. A school spokesman claimed: "A new approach to driver training is needed, and it should be part of normal studies."

ITALIAN sports car maker Zagato will use the Geneva Motor Show to celebrate the 100th birthday of historic Italian racing team Diatto with a special concept car.

The one-off seals an association between the two firms that started in 1921. Two car collectors funding the project hope to revive the Diatto brand, which hasn't produced a motor since 1955.

Diatto is best remembered for its racing successes of the Twenties when it won 500 races in partnership with names such as Maserati and Bugatti.

MOTORISTS from the Faroe Islands can now swap their licence for a British one.

Drivers from outside the EU have to resit their test if they live in the UK for more than 12 months. But now the DVLA has granted the exception for Islanders. The report argued that traffic rules and test procedures in the Faroes were similar to ours, while accident rates "compared favourably with the UK".
