Eden Project to host first eco-friendly motor show
07th March 2007
A survey by motor trade estate agent Gilbran found 86 per cent of car owners want vehicle makers to provide "easy-to-understand information on the environmental performance and impact of cars".
It's a strategy already adopted by the forthcoming Sexy Green Motor Show at the Eden Project in Cornwall. "Brands providing this information will win the battle for buyers," said Gilbran boss Nigel Smith.
Meanwhile, Government plans to help drivers choose the greenest motor were thrown into disarray when the launch of a dedicated website was cancelled only 16 hours before it was due to go live.
The page at
www.actonco2.co.uk was to list the top 10 eco-friendly cars in each sector, but many details were inaccurate. "This is meant to be the Government's flagship policy on helping drivers, and it's in tatters," said an industry insider. A Department for Transport spokesman told us: "We hope it will launch soon."
