Game threat of novice drivers

If young drivers sometimes act as if they are on a race track, there could be good reason...

According to researchers at driving school BSM, two-thirds of newly qualified motorists claimed they were more likely to travel faster after a session of on-screen driving. And nearly a quarter of the 1,000 16-24-year-olds said they imagined they were in a game when at the wheel.

Two in five played racing games at least once a week. But BSM's Robin Cummins didn't think it was all bad news. "Accred­ited simulators can be useful to enhance driving skills," he explained.
