TomTom sat-nav in virus warning

Navigation firm TomTom has admitted some of its devices have been sold with a computer virus

11th March 2007

Auto Express's sister magazine PC Pro discovered that a number of the company's sat-navs were affected and could potentially disable customers' home systems.

Although the faulty units were produced in September last year, bosses haven't issued any public warning to consumers, and they claim only an isolated number of devices were loaded with the destructive program. However, TomTom does say that most PC anti-virus software will clear the problem before any damage is done. The firm has asked customers to call its technical helpline on 0845 161 0009 if they are still experiencing difficulties.
