Brit speed king nets new award

The land speed record-breaking JCB has been among the honours again this week, after being handed the coveted Dewar Trophy

17th March 2007

This valuable silver cup has been awarded through the years ever since 1906, and is traditionally given to either a company or an individual who has demonstrated outstanding technical motoring achievement.

Originally awarded to the Auto-mobile Club by Sir Thomas Robert Dewar MP, other winners include Dunlop back in 1973, for developing a failsafe tyre and wheel system, and Jaguar for the XJ Series' aluminium body structure.
