Flying Finn Kimi Raikkonnen won the Australian Grand Prix for Ferrrai earlier this morning. McLarens' Fernando Alonso was second and rookie team-mate Lewis Hamilton was third.
Raikonnen led form start to finish, apart from a five-lap period when he pitted and Hamilton took over. He drove his own race and never look troubled by the chasing pack. McLarens' Ron Dennis was visibly moved when his two drivers took second and third on the podium. He said both his drivers performed brilliantly and the race strategy favoured the experienced Alonso. Nonetheless, the drive of the race belonged to Lewis Hamilton in his GP debut. Hamilton's career has been been nurtured by Dennis for more than a decade, as he sponsored his karting career and other track activities.
Brit David Coulthard crashed out after an ambitious overtaking manoeuvre on Alex Wurz and Jenson Button finished 15th.
