Coupé U-turn on all-new Vectra?

Public approval has caused GM to rethink its strategy with its GTC concept

27th March 2007

General Motors insiders have revealed that media and public enthusiasm for the GTC, which showcases the next-generation Vectra - due on sale in mid-2008 - has forced a rethink about the production of a coupé version.

The concept, revealed by Auto Express in Issue 951, was one of the stars of this month's Geneva Motor Show.

A source said: "The original view was that the numbers did not stack up for a coupé, but we are looking at it again. Potential sales of two-doors badged as Australian Holdens and American Saturns mean it could be viable."
