Future events, plus SEAT threatens to pull out of the World Touring Car series

24th March 2007

FORMER British Grand Prix winner John Watson will join a host of stars for GP Live at Donington Park.

The Ulsterman, who won at Silverstone in 1981 for McLaren, will be reunited with some of the F1 cars he drove. Other names at the 18-20 May event will include Mario Andretti, Stirling Moss, Jackie Stewart and John Surtees.
KATHERINE Legge is confident of sealing a last-ditch deal to race in ChampCars this year. The 25-year-old is set to sign to tail-end team Dale Coyne Racing for the opening event on 8 April in Las Vegas.

Meanwhile, Justin Wilson’s RuSPORTS outfit is set to merge with Rocketsports, making the Brit team-mate to Alex Tagliani.

SEAT is threatening to pull out of the World Touring Car series because it claims the rules favour bitter rival BMW. The firm has been angered by a weight reduction given to the German company’s rear-wheel-drive models in return for it agreeing to rolling starts.

“We have a year-by-year commitment. If WTCC is good for us, we continue. If it’s not, we don’t,” said SEAT Sport boss Jaime Puig.
