Landmark Golf

Volkswagen is celebrating after the 25 millionth Golf rolled off the production line.

09th April 2007

Workers at the plant in Wolfsburg met to give the landmark car – a hatch in Tornado Red, powered by the firm’s hi-tech turbo and supercharged 1.4-litre TSI engine – a big send-off.

The first example of the popular model hit the road 33 years ago. Since then, the Golf has been assembled at factories all over the world. However, it is the German facility which has built the most – more than 15 million since 1974.
