Mike Rutherford touched on a nerve when he mentioned that MINI's bubble had burst last week. Sample of comments below:

Comment by David Cooke: Mike, I couldn't agree more with you. The over-priced MINI with so-so build quality held its value well because it was the latest fashion thing. The Fiat 500 and Polo Bluemotion deserve to succeed because both have pushed the boundaries further than the latest MINI.

Comment by Alan Clarke: However, MINI is a unique car - its looks are different and is a good all-rounder! The Polo Bluemotion and and Fox seem slighty boring, while the Fiat 500 isn't even released yet! AND which would you rather buy? £11,500 on the most fuel-efficent environmentally sound car ever that's probably going to bore you to heaven and back - or a fun groovy UNIQUE car that will look way better on your driveway!

The debate continues to rage here

Meanwhile David Johns' warning of the destructive power of commercial jet washes (read here) encouraged sympathy from some readers who'd had their vehicles damaged. DJ asked the car wash what chemicals were used and was greeted with a stony silence. If you've experienced jet wash problems, too, please let us know.
