Patient used buyers could be on to a winner, if bosses approve Kia’s latest plans. The Korean firm already offers a seven-year warranty on its Cee’d family car (image) – but that could be extended to other models, such as the Sportage compact SUV.
It’s great news for future used buyers, who will benefit from years of protection, even when choosing three-year-old examples. Meanwhile, the rival Good Garage Scheme already has 1,500 members. The seven-month-old programme, run by trade products supplier Forté, has attracted 10 per cent of the UK’s independent dealers – although a number have since been expelled for failing to meet its strict code of conduct. “The retail sector is in constant evolution,” said managing director David Shelton. “And we’re always looking to bring an innovative approach to the industry.” The firm formally opened its fifth UK outlet in Peterborough, Cambs, last month.
A SELECTION of classic Jaguars went under the hammer last week in a sale by Barons Auctioneers – and more themed events are planned. Its first Classic Italia sale on 30-31 July will cater for everything from Fiats to Lamborghinis, and the Hampshire firm is hosting a British Heritage sale on 10-11 September.
