Aimed at sporting hatchbacks and saloons, the SP Sport FastResponse is designed to provide high resistance to aquaplaning, as well as enhanced grip and sharper steering precision in the wet. The tyre features an asymmetric tread and has a special silica compound for strong performance on soaking roads, while its construction maximises contact with the tarmac. The 31-strong range incorporates sizes from 185/60 R14 to 205/50 R17.

For SUV drivers, there’s the Grandtrek Touring A/S, which can be found as original equipment on luxury off-roaders from makers such as BMW, Audi and Mercedes. With its all-season technology, it has a polymer blend compound and an asymmetric tread that is a cross between conventional and winter patterns. There’s also a reinforced sidewall to limit roll when cornering. It’s available in 11 sizes from 215/65 R16 to 275/70 R18.

Drivers who want a super-grippy tyre can try the SP Sport MaxxGT. Dunlop’s racing-inspired silica compound is used in the high-performance design, which the firm claims is the ultimate dry road tyre. Aimed at GTs and sporting saloons and hatches, it comes in 18 and 19-inch sizes.

Dunlop SP Sport FastResponse, Grandtrek Touring A/S, SP Sport MaxxGT, prices from: £68/£124.55/£188, buy from: 0121 306 6000, www.driversknow.co.uk
