Buying a new car in white isn't as financially risky as it used to be, according to valuation experts at CAP

The firm found that half of the dealers they questioned said that sales of cars in this colour were at a five-year high and that white doesn't affect residuals that much anymore. Silver, black and blue are still best for maximising resale value.

FORD's new Mondeo has won an allergy-free award from German motoring and testing organisation TUV.

During the car's design, more than 100 cabin components were dermatologically evaluated, and irritants such as nickel, chrome and latex removed. Following the recently launched S-MAX, it's the fifth Ford model to be honoured in this way.

US GIANT Chevrolet has proved that hydrogen-powered cars can have the same range as their petrol equivalents. Two prototype Sequel SUVs both covered a 300-mile trip across New York State on a single tank of hydrogen each - claimed to be the furthest distance covered on one fill-up by a fuel cell vehicle. This translates into a traditional fuel consumption rate of about 23mpg.

THE UK's biggest motorway service station operator is offering free health checks to drivers. Over the summer months, motorists can have their blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar and Body Mass Index assessed by Moto. The company believes that many of those who spend long periods at the wheel run the risk of obesity and health problems.

TOYOTA'S flagship 4x4 has reached new heights with its latest variant. The Land Cruiser Invincible slots into the range above the LC5, and adds privacy glass and a DVD entertainment system to the eight-seater's equipment list. The extras are worth £2,500, but the Invincible is priced at £38,495, only £500 more than the LC5.
