Spray away wheel dirt

Keep a clean machine with these new products from Nielson

03rd June 2007

Until recently, Nielsen was a brand name known only to the trade. But the Derbyshire company has just launched a whole host of retail products – seven in total – which help you restore your
car’s interior and exterior to its former glory.

Scruffy-looking alloys can seriously affect a vehicle’s resale value, so we got hold of an early sample of Nielsen Wheel Care to find out how effective it was. Our test car’s rims were coated in grime and brake dust from a couple of weeks’ normal driving, and we followed the instructions, rinsing the wheels to remove loose dirt.

We then sprayed the product on to the alloy, with the 500ml trigger bottle making it easy to get an even application. The product was left to work for two minutes, before we agitated it with a sponge. Straight away, the grime lifted off, and when we rinsed the wheel again, this was even more apparent. Having put in the minimum of effort, we were left with a sparkling finish.

One problem with the Nielsen cleaner is that it can’t be applied to chrome, anodized aluminium or unlacquered wheels, or used on areas where the lacquer has become cracked. However, if your rims are suitable, we’d recommend giving this product a go. For effective cleaning and barely any fuss, it’s a real winner.
