Green car sales go through roof

Hybrid car sales have gone into overdrive, with the number on Britain’s roads doubling in the last 12 months

As a result, it’s the fastest-growing sector in the motor industry. Honda benefited most, with 604 registrations of its Civic IMA in May alone, making up more than half of the sales of the model for the year to date.

And Toyota is celebrating, having sold one million hybrids since launching its first in 1997. Its Prius was the best seller, topping the 750,000 mark.
