New SW is taller and longer than the hatch

Completing the 207 range, which comprises three and five-door hatchbacks, plus the drop-top CC, the SW plays the practicality card with more space inside for passengers and luggage. It sits on the same wheelbase as the five-door, but is 119mm longer and 38mm taller. That means more rear headÂroom, while the boot capacity is also bigger, at 325 litres. A new seat mechÂanism sees the back bench fold flat to provide a huge maximum loading area of 1,410 litres.
Under the bonnet, four engines are available. The petrol line-up consists of two units co-developed with BMW: a 95bhp 1.4-litre and a 120bhp 1.6. Diesel buyers have a choice of 1.6 HDi units with 90bhp or 110bhp. All cars get a five-speed manual box, with modified ratios for the SW. Price and spec details will be revealed shortly, but the model should cost about £1,000 more than the five-door, starting from just under £12,000.
