The car sprints from 0-60mph in 9.3 seconds. Standard-fit sports suspension is designed to sharpen the handling, while inside the cabin boasts a host of desirable extras including a voice-activated satellite navigation system, cruise control and an upgraded stereo with six-disc CD changer. Buyers will also get carbon fibre-effect trim on the centre console and sporty red-lit instruments.
The second model to join the range is an entry-level diesel. The SE costs from £18,600 and has 16-inch alloy wheels, a Bluetooth hands-free telephone and six-speed manual gearbox as standard. The newcomer is aimed at company car users, who will benefit from its low list price and CO2 emissions of 145g/km. The 2.2-litre oil-burner offers impressive fuel economy of 51mpg, but the new entry model is only available as a saloon, and not in practical Tourer guise.
