A new gadget from GEAR4 allows drivers to not only take phone calls hands-free, but also listen to music from their mobiles.

While conventional earpieces may work well enough to hold a conversation, most are not the sort of kit you would want to listen to your favourite music through. This is where the BluPhones score, as the sound is excellent, boasting plenty of depth and clarity – exactly the same as a set of MP3 player headphones, in fact.

The device is easy to pair, and within seconds we were listening to music stored on our handset. The headphones felt a little odd at first, but this wore off in no time. And music is cleverly integrated with making and receiving calls. When the phone rings, all you need do is press the multi-function button on the earpiece to answer. A second click ends the call. Brilliant!
