The 60-second film features US model Genevieve Love Lake, and was made by the Cyclists' Touring Club (CTC) to target the four million people who regularly drive less than three miles to work.

It depicts anyone using a bike as a superhero, and has been designed to convince motorists to give up their cars for short trips and help "save the planet". The advert will be shown in cinemas across the country next month. "A three-mile commute by bicycle would take an average person 20 minutes, and the amount of CO2 a couple would save over the course of a year is equivalent to the weight of a small car," explained CTC director Kevin Mayne. It's estimated Cycle Hero, which was made using a £295,000 grant from the environment department DEFRA, will be shown to more than three million people.
