As they offer so many features in one unit, smartphones can often prove confusing to use. But with the new Nokia N95, the three main features – sat-nav, making and receiving calls and listening to music – all work seamlessly.
The sat-nav is brilliant, as the phone has more than 100 countries loaded on to its memory. The 2.6-inch screen provides clear mapping, while the voice guidance doesn’t sound as robotic as on some other systems on the market.
In our test, we asked for points of interest such as a service station, restaurants and car parks, and it guided us to all of them easily. It was simple to use when it came to calls, too. The N95 follows a similar format to previous Nokia smartphones, with the numbers under the sliding front panel and the on-screen menus proving a breeze to navigate. Add in stereo speakers for superb sound from the MP3 player and it’s a tempting package, especially as it’s free on selected network contracts.
