Drivers’ night vision

Famous fashion and motorsport brand Tag Heuer is aiming to make night-time driving easier on the eyes

09th July 2007

It claims its new Avant-Garde Eyewear will revolutionise vision for motorists, and it was trialled by the Peugeot team in the recent Le Mans 24 Hours race – the ultimate physical driving test.

The technology combines various clever features, as well as providing improved comfort. Tag Heuer says that, even if you have 20:20 vision, your eyesight gradually deteriorates when driving in the dark. So, to counter this, the company’s all-new eyewear has been developed with hi-tech ophthalmic lenses which are coated on both sides with a special anti-reflective treatment. This is aimed at reducing dazzle.

In addition, a unique oleophobic treatment helps to deliver constant clear, sharp vision, while the pronounced yellow tint improves colour perception in the dark.

The frame legs are rounded to give a perfect fit, and every pair is tailored specifically to the wearer’s own eyesight and comfort requirements. And on top of all this, with their stylish finish, the glasses look great, too.

Tag Heuer Avant-Garde Eyewear, price: From £154-£284, buy from: www.tagheuer.com
