Euro star tunes into UK

Becker set-up plays variety of media formats, to keep passengers fully entertained

By Simon McBride

13th July 2007

Already firmly established on the Continent as a manufacturer of high-end satellite navigation and in-car entertainment systems, German firm Becker is now aiming to become a major player in the UK market, too.

Its new portable Vision Pro set-up is a real multimedia mogul, and will keep passengers quiet on long journeys with its array of functions. Not only does it enable users to watch movies on DVD, they can also tune into digital television programmes, listen to the radio, view digital photos or play their favourite music from a CD or via the set-up’s MP3 facility.

What’s more, bosses claim that owners are guaranteed superb audio quality from the integrated speakers – hardly surprising, as the Becker brand is owned by sound specialist Harman. But its engineers have also ensured the new Vision Pro is easy to use. It’s fitted with an excellent seven-inch touchscreen, which features an intuitive layout, plus clear and logical menus, to make navigating your way around the system’s various functions a breeze.

Nevertheless, if you do manage to go wrong, there’s a single button on the gadget’s attractive brushed aluminium casing which sends you straight back to what is effectively the system’s home page.

If you specify the optional analogue and DVB TV tuner when you buy, you will also be able to receive television and FM radio programmes. Yet as well as entertaining in the car, the fully portable set-up can be used in your living room, as it connects to home hi-fi or DVD systems.
