DIY immobiliser has thieves beaten

You can never do too much to prevent your pride and joy from being stolen...

Product attaches to your car’s battery, and works via remote control

24th July 2007

So, you might want to check out the Cadillock. According to the maker, it’s the ultimate in anti-theft protection – and easy to fit, too.

The product effectively acts as an immobiliser by disconnecting power to the engine. All owners have to remember is to disable the device via remote control when they come to drive away. The kit includes an adaptor, two remotes with a range of up to 10 metres, a security screw, an Allen key for assembly, as well as instructions and a manual.

Installation is a DIY affair, and simply involves you fastening the Cadillock on to or next to the car’s battery. You then attach the positive cable from the battery to the top of the device and the black earth to the negative pole.

Conveniently, the set-up won’t affect your stereo – which means if you do accidentally forget to turn the Cadillock off and your engine won’t start, radio channels saved as presets will not be lost.
