WHEN it comes to repairs, it seems it’s now simply too much hassle getting the job paid for by your insurance firm. According to a survey by classified ad website Auto Trader, 60 per cent of UK motorists opt to pay privately for repairs, rather than go through their cover company.

Of the 25 per cent that did make a claim, one in five said it wasn’t dealt with satisfactorily, 40 per cent said the process was ‘stressful’ and the firm unhelpful, while 27 per cent said their inquiry took too long to resolve. Five per cent said they were not paid at all.
