Porsche's new drive centre, restricting younger driving, drunken foreigners

Novice drivers could soon find their movements are restricted after passing their L-test. A Government report has recommended that motorists under the age of 19 should not be able to carry passengers after 11pm. Further suggestions include raising the driving test age to 18.

MORE than one in 10 motorists convicted for drink-driving in the UK is from Eastern Europe. And over a fifth of these drivers, mainly from Poland, Latvia and Estonia, are more than two-and-a-half times over the limit when stopped, according to drink-driving rehabilitation expert TTC. It also said that most of those under the influence had a poor grasp of British traffic laws.

WORK has started on a new Porsche Driving Centre at the Silverstone circuit in Northants. Set to open next year, the venue will allow buyers to try models on a special two-mile track. They will be able to test a car’s handling in wet and dry conditions, and also on surfaces that simulate ice and snow.
