The Spaniard (image) was back to his brilliant best to score his third win of the year at the Nurburgring, and he is now targeting further success on Sunday.
“In the last few races, Ferrari has been quicker. But this is a slower
circuit, like Monaco,” said Alonso, who finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton on the Principality’s narrow streets to give the team its most dominant one-two result of the campaign. “Hungary suits the McLaren very well.”
Victory in Germany has moved Alonso to within two points of series leader Hamilton, and further ahead of Ferrari’s Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen. But with seven races left, there are plenty of points still up for grabs, and the world champ admits there’s a long way to go. “As I always said, whoever is more consistent in the 17 rounds will win the title,” he added. “No doubt it will be tight at the end for all four of us.”
