This is the Concept-Cx and it will debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
The sleek 4x4 previews a possible production model that could bridge the gap between the firm’s road cars and SUVs. It is based on the same ‘Project Global’ platform as the latest Mitsubishi Outlander and also shares its electronically controlled four-wheel drive set-up.
Aggressive styling features include the latest Mitsubishi grille, which will also appear on the forthcoming Lancer Evolution, and an integrated exhaust pipe at the back. Despite its car-like looks the Concept-Cx features off-road styling cues including short overhangs and underbody protection on the bumpers and side skirts.
Other neat touches include interior trim materials made from environmentally friendly ‘green plastics’ and a 1.8-litre diesel engine designed to meet Euro V emissions.
