Here are the pictures that prove it! This striking-looking car is the Mixim, which previews a sporty electric supermini of the future. Making its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in two weeks’ time, the Mixim displays a bold new design for Nissan, with dramatic angular styling, short overhangs and a chunky stance.

The concept car features plenty of head-turning details, including LED headlights sandwiched between the stubby bonnet and protruding bumper, as well as triangular side windows and diamond-shaped air intakes. Access to the interior is via twin scissor doors, and once you’re inside, the Mixim’s radical theme continues with a three-seater layout similar to that of McLaren’s F1 supercar. Sitting ahead of the two passengers, the driver should enjoy an excellent view out, thanks to a wraparound windscreen which is said to have been inspired by a crash helmet visor.

Nissan claims the Mixim is aimed at young motorists who spend lots of time on the Internet or playing video games, so the steering wheel and dash controls are modelled on joypads. Shorter, lower and wider than the Micra, the Mixim weighs only 950kg. It is said to offer excellent performance and a decent range between charges, with power coming from two electric motors running off lithium-ion batteries. The supermini is also four-wheel drive, as one of those motors drives the front axle, while the second unit takes care of the rear.

The Mixim won’t be the only new Nissan on display at Frankfurt. Also on the firm’s stand will be the revised Micra range – which gets a mild facelift and more standard equipment. To celebrate this, the manufacturer has developed a C+C-based concept version, featuring two-tone ‘liquid gold’ and white pearlescent paintwork. It comes with white leather seats and ‘acid yellow’ interior trim, too.
