Brake scare sees BMW recall 2,000

Faults force recalls of BMW X5, Jeep Liberty, Chrysler PT Cruiser and Maserati Quattroporte

04th September 2007

A safety fault on the X5 has forced maker BMW to recall nearly 2,000 models. The Vehicle and Operator Services Agency says a brake fluid level warning light problem could mean leaks are detected too late on cars built from the start of February to the end of April this year.

Meanwhile, more than 2,200 examples of the Jeep Liberty have been called back over a heater motor fault that could cause a fire, and 212 Chrysler PT Cruisers recalled due to a risk of the rear quarter windows falling out.

Maserati has also called back 718 Quattroportes for possible defects in their ABS software. Visit www.vosa.gov.uk for more details on all these recalls.
