With what looked like the entire Audi family lined up on the stand, visitors did well to spot the newcomer the RS6 Avant - mostly thanks to its gleaming paintwork.

But its not only good looks that are set to give the German marque the lead in the pace race. With a Lamborghini-derived V10, the twin-turbocharged load-lugger boasts a staggering 580bhp. This results in a blistering 0-60 time of just 4.6 seconds. The newcomer is also set apart by a new deeper front bumper, big alloys, prominent wheel arch blisters not seen since the original 1980 Quattro. It's due to arrive in showrooms next spring and should set you back around £65,000.
