American giant Chrysler has been picking up styling tips from students – and here are the results! Both cars were penned by young designers attending the car manufacturer’s annual summer seminar.
This year’s challenge was to create a desirable family hatchback with low running costs. First of the two cars to catch the judges’ eyes was the Dodge Decept. Shown here in motorsport trim, the five-door study is a four-wheel-drive hybrid. It should sprint from 0-60mph in five seconds, while still returning 59mpg. Inside, it has the feel of a club lounge, with separate seats for the four passengers.
The second winner was the Chrysler Forte. Taking its cues from Mercedes’ CLS, it has a 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine and two 90bhp electric motors. The cabin features touch-sensitive screens, a centre console packed with cubbies and an IntelliCharge unit. This allows any portable electronic device to be charged from the same dock.
