Sleeker, sportier and greener – that’s what Honda is promising with the next-generation Accord.
Bosses pulled the wraps off the Accord Tourer Concept at Frankfurt, and confirmed that both the saloon and estate will wear the same striking look when production models are revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
Although the basic profile and nose borrow heavily from the current model, the eighth-generation Accord will look racier, thanks to an increase in width and more curvaceous design. At the rear, the rounded back end features a clearly defined central crease that echoes the styling at the front.
While the exterior looks ready for production, Honda is staying tight-lipped about the new Accord’s cabin, although it is expected to have all the user-friendly features of the current car. However, the firm has revealed that the Accord will come with one of the world’s first Euro V-compliant diesels. The new i-DTEC unit promises to be among the most refined and efficient powerplants on the market and deliver a significant hike in performance over the current car. Prices and specifications for the new Accord range will be announced when it goes on sale next summer.
