The replacement for the Nissan Cube will be no square, Auto Express can exclusively reveal. That’s because it’s set to take its inspiration from the wild looking Mixim concept car that debuted at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
Although there has been no official word on the launch of the newcomer, the compact family model should be sold officially in the UK – unlike the current Cube.
An efficient petrol-engined version is set to be the first model to arrive in 2009, and it could be followed by an eco-friendly electric-powered variant in 2010. While the angular Mixim will influence the looks of the exterior, the concept’s advanced three-chair cabin with central driver’s seat and joypad-style controls are likely to give way to a more conventional four-seater layout.
There’s still no news on a name for the upcoming machine. However, as the Cube title followed the car’s boxy design, it’s unlikely that such a curvy replacement would keep the name.
