First Highway Code revisions for eight years

Auto Express has long been campaigning for Highway Code reform – and it’s finally happened.

Highway Code

28th September 2007

Today the government has announced the first revised Highway Code for eight years, bringing the motoring rule book up to date.

New technology has changed the way we drive and there are now rulings on the latest motoring gadgets. Recommendations on more courteous motoring have also been added.

Young drivers are encouraged to take less risks, while advice against smoking at the wheel is also included for the first time.

The Code is available for free at Direct.gov.uk – read further details on what the changes mean for you in the next issue of Auto Express magazine on sale from October 3.
