After finishing only seventh in the opening Sprint race, Oliver Jarvis bounced back to win the following Feature showdown for Team GBR. Slick strategy helped Jarvis to pass pole sitter Adrian Zaugg in the South African entry during the first of the two mandatory pitstops, and he never looked back after that.

“I started to back off towards the end, because I had a big gap and I just wanted to enjoy the moment. It was a fantastic race and a great way to kick off the season and our championship challenge.

“My family are here, so it was quite a proud moment for me after a difficult start to the weekend,” said the 20-year-old Cambridgeshire driver. “Having finished third for the past two seasons, we are definitely out to win the World Cup this year and that was the start I was anticipating before we came here.”

Team GBR now heads to Brno, Czech Republic, holding second spot in the standings with 19 points, nine behind South Africa. It won the Sprint race in Holland and finished second behind Jarvis in the Feature.

Jarvis’ team-mate Robbie Kerr will take over Team GBR driving duties at the next round on 14 October. Ralph Firman could only finish sixth and eighth driving the Irish entry.
