Hoseless car wash

Dry run for cleaning

Don’t let the name put you off... the latest hoseless car wash is called Fükken Wax

By Simon McBride

05th October 2007

US maker NIK and Associates claims it’s a wash and wax in a can that contains Carnauba, and offers superior cleaning, a long-lasting shine and durable protection. We tried it out on our Land Rover Freelander.

Armed with two microfibre cloths and a can of the new wax, we sprayed the solution directly on our car, as there is no need to pre-rinse the bodywork before cleaning. There’s a low-pressure button spray, which makes it easy to control, keeping waste to a minimum. Or if you prefer, you can spray on to a cloth rather than on to the paint, which eliminates the risk of getting spots on the windows.

Although the wax lifted bugs, tar specks and tree sap, it wasn’t as efficient as our 2007 Product Honours Champion, Armor All’s Clean & Shine Wipes. The wax took more effort, as we had to clean some areas twice. At nearly £16, it’s priced about the same as its rivals – which all use trigger sprays instead – but we still prefer Armor All’s solution, which comes in a pack of 10 for £3.99.

Problems? Price is hefty, while Armor All wipes are better.
So why buy? The spray can gets your car clean without having to use water, but is most effective on vehicles with only a light film of dirt.
