As ever, Michelin’s expert team of inspectors has tested each of the 550-plus pubs listed in the guide – these range from country inns to urban gastropubs – and their findings are published in detail.
The regional guides kick off with a large map detailing each location, while every entry carries a colour photograph and a lively description of the establishment. Addresses are printed clearly at the top of every page, along with extensive directions, plus typical menus, prices and opening times. Colour coding on every page also enables motorists to see in an instant what facilities the site offers.
Although all the pubs listed in the latest guide get Michelin’s seal of approval, the publication picks out more than 100 of its particular favourites, plus its Pub of the Year. So there’s no excuse for eating shoddy food at the end of a long journey.
