Bikers' hand-free kit

Helmet kit tunes in

If you use a scooter to beat the traffic jams, this is the device you’ve been waiting for.

The Parrot SK4000 is a wireless hands-free mobile phone and music kit for motorcyclists – and the maker claims it’s a world first.

The device features an RDS FM radio and a mobile remote control. The latter clips on to the bike’s handlebars and uses Bluetooth technology to let you switch between listening to the radio and answering calls.

There’s also multi-speaker voice-recognition software, although you won’t need to record voice tags on the system, as it recognises the contact’s name and makes the call automatically. A Text To Speech feature reads contacts from your mobile phone’s address book straight to your earpiece, so you can choose who to call, while the set-up can even tell you which radio station you have tuned into.

The SK4000 is said to be compatible with virtually all the Bluetooth mobile phones currently on the market.
